Another baby chalice blanket – this one out of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted in the “Hermosa” colorway for my friend Amanda’s daughter, Juliet.
I’m horribly overdue with this blanket and have 7 repeats left to go!
Almost a month again. Sheesh. I haven’t been purposely ignoring the blog, honest, just running around like a maniac.
First, I got to meet my new niece, Marisa. She took a nap on my chest while we were visiting for nephew #4′s birthday:
I finished my cousin’s shawl and my own shawl. Erika’s shower was on 7/10 and she really enjoyed herself. I got to spend most of the day with her which is nice since she lives in Pittsburgh and we don’t see each other very often.
Pattern: Haruni (ravelry link – it’s a free pdf download!)
Yarn: Wollmeise 100% superwash merino in Frühling
Cast on: 6/20/2010
Cast off: 7/2/2010
and my lovely blocking assistant:
I’ve also been busy doing some test knitting for Heather (over at Crafty Detour and for her personal designs, at digitalnabi) which has involved another sock pattern and a shawlette pattern. I’m now completely addicted to lace, thanks to Haruni and the new shawlette which I believe is being called Strawberry.
And since it’s July and the tour de france is going on, we spinners have the tour de fleece at the same time! Here’s what I’ve managed to spin up since the start:
135 yards, navajo plied superwash merino in the Cheshire cat colorway
230 yards of 2 ply superwash merino from Pigeonroof Studios in the exit song colorway – this was a club shipment from Krista’s regular fiber club.
And finally,
225 yards of 2 ply Falkland that I dyed, the colorway name is Professor Von Buren (JC came up with it, don’t ask).
I’m trying to get better with measuring the yardage I’ve been ending up with. So far so good. On the wheel currently is more superwash merino from PigeonRoof, I’m trying to spin down my stash!
I’m almost done the singles and hope to finish this up by the end of this weekend if I don’t completely get sucked into my test knitting which has been the case lately.
More tomorrow!
The next couple of weekends are proving to be insane.
This weekend I’m heading to NYC with Sharon and Jessica to putz around, check out the new purl shop, figure out what bridesmaid dress I want from j.crew for my cousin Erika’s wedding, and just generally enjoy each others company. These ladies are my closest friends I’ve made since moving to NJ and I could not say thank you to them enough.
The next weekend, my Ashbee (or Ashly) is coming from Pittsburgh for a 3 day weekend! We’ll spend Friday in NYC, Saturday in Philly, and Sunday probably in Princeton. It’s been over a year since I got to see Ash and I could not be more excited about this visit!
May 1st is Maryland Sheep and Wool. Sharon and I are taking that Friday off, driving to my parents house in PA, then leaving at o’dark thirty on Saturday morning to drive to MD. This will be my first trip to MDS&W, and my mission is Woolee Winder bobbins.
I think after that, I’ll finally have a moment to sit and breathe!
Baby surprise jacket #1 of 2 for cousin in law Amber is done. Whew. I am casting on #2 today at lunch. #1 is re-soaking and needs to be blocked (scandal!) before I can seam the sleeves and sew on the buttons (which will happen tonight I hope).
The yarn is Tempted Hand Painted Good Grrl in the colorway Coral Reef. Stacey is a brilliant dyer. This yarn was lovely to work with, I will have to track down some more!
The next BSJ will be out of Cascade Heritage Paints sock yarn. Amber is having a boy and a girl, so I went the traditional route of pink and blue but Amber will probably not pay any attention to the whole pink and blue stereotype. She is wonderful and I cannot wait to meet these two little kiddos.
These baby sweaters are a good way to cull the sock yarn herd. Pretty soon I’m just going to have my wollmeise stash remaining if these ladies keep getting pregnant. Hah.
I’ve also started in on my super secret knitting project (Rav link) – using some lovely alpaca laceweight from Sharon (yay free yarn). Hope to have this project completed by July! (note that I’m giving myself PLENTY of time). This weekend, I need to obtain some addi lace turbos in a US9, the normal ones I have are a) too blunt and b) way too short, need a much longer cable than 24″ since this thing ends up with 433 stitches before binding off. Sheesh.
But for now, I’m still in baby knitting land but I can finally see the border!
Here is the newest member of the family, Justin who arrived yesterday afternoon
Spent most of the day with the boys in the pool – was so much fun. E decided that I needed a Nintendo DS so I can get nintendogs and then our dogs can play together – even offered to save money to buy me one – sweetest 9 year old nephew an aunt could ever ask for!
Now some random pics:
I got two boxes from Barnes & Noble today:
Also in the box:
I just really like john mayer. I don't know. I kinda feel weird admitting to that?
And!
The thing I forgot about:
We found this book at Kards Unlimited and I just sat there and giggled at it the entire time I was reading. There is a pattern for knitting pasties. Hahahahaha. I love it. Oh well, I was just informed that the baby blanket I had 3 weeks to do, may be due a little earlier. So I've started another baby blanket. It wil be travelling home with me this weekend and hopefully, I'll be able to get two skeins done (read: half). Fun. I guess I have to knit lots because castingon can't?
The biggest news: I'm going to be an aunt again! My sister in law is pregnant with their 4th child. 3 Boys are already here and let's hope this one is a girl
It was a great holiday. My birthday (xmas eve) was great. We went to the fiance's for dinner and had a wonderful little polish feast of pierogies, roasted red potatoes, bread, and some smelts (ugh). I made a chocolate peanut butter fudge cheesecake that was delish and his mom bought me a bday cake!
Birthday presents received:
How cool? I haven't seen danger mouse in YEARS!
Xmas presents were also great this year! I got a ton of stuff from j.crew and several knitting gift cards (yay) also a few more dvd's!
And this awesome CD:
THIS CD IS AWESOME! I think though, that I'm going to buy the one with the DVD attached so I can see the things that Cirque du Soleil did to the music! The cd is just amazing! I brought it with me to work so that I can listen to it after lunch! Also received:
Which is rediculously huge and full of neat things. I got new dishes from Pottery Barn (star shaped! sweet) a rice cooker, cake plates, and a steaming iron. Everyone seemed to like their presents they received and I'm happy for that.
I go back to Pittsburgh on Saturday. I'm not really looking forward to it, but I know it's only a few more months until I'm at home
Now, the job hunt begins! Wish me luck!
Anyone have any interesting plans for new years? I know I will be at Walnut Grill with my cousin and New Age Amazon being snobby drinking wine and ordering cheese plates! Can't wait.
Hope your xmas was as nice as mine!
THE BABY BLANKET IS DONE!!!
I'm free FREE i tell you!
Hopefully she likes it! *giggles*
I'm back on my xmas list.
Great
These addi turbos are making all the difference in the world. I have one row to go before i switch back to pink and will be almost 1/2 done.
Speaking of babies, along with ●ßoηi†a.in.Ρink●, my friend Josie is an aunt today! Hillary (formerly named Zoe with the umlat) was born this evening! I am so excited for Josie because I was estatic when I became an aunt almost 9 years ago! (congrats mrs. pink!)
Well, best start the mint green stripe of the baby blanket. 17 rows until I switch back to pink!
I'm planning a dinner party this weekend and will most likely share some recipes with you all
