You know what I’m talking about. That point in the year where you spontaneously decided you are sick of all of your projects and you must finish them because OMG I CANT STAND IT ANYMORE.

Yes, I have hit that point. I want to finish my color affection, blackberry cardigan, endpaper mitts, and watershed cardigan ASAP. Mormorio, which is another WIP can just hang out and be reward knitting – I have to have that done by the start of December for a KAL. (Thanks to Heather for correcting me on that!) There are so many more projects and so much more spinning fiber that is waiting to become yarn.

So project number one that I’m focusing on is my blackberry cardigan. I started this before Rhinebeck with the idea of finishing it so I could wear it during the festival, but I was sidelined with some cross-stitch nonsense. Anyway, the other night I cast off the back, so now only two fronts, two sleeves, and a button band to go!

Sleeves have been separated on Effortless. I have another inch and a half until I start the waist shaping. I should really try this thing on… maybe at knitting group tonight.

The next two skeins are ready to go. I think I did a pretty good job of matching them up at WEBS. I’m still alternating between two skeins every 2 rows for a more mottled effect. It’s coming out nicely. At least I think so.

But some of you know that I don’t usually go to knitting on Wednesday evenings – I’m usually at the gym teaching BodyJam with Our Sharon. Well, this past Monday, I fell during BodyStep class and sprained my left ankle – I have to stay off of it for 2 weeks.  I’m okay to walk on it normally because I was special and did a lateral sprain instead of the “normal” ankle sprain.

I spent yesterday with my foot up on my desk and today is very similar. So please, send some good ankle healing mojo to me so I can get back to dancing and preparing for the bodyjam launch weekend on April 21!

Okay since last time… I think I separated the sleeves on Effortless. Buttons are still not on Dark & Stormy as it needs to be re-blocked. Zipper is still not ordered for Oranje – I need to re-block, measure, and order the damn zipper; then install said zipper. We ended up not dyeing any fiber last weekend (maybe this weekend?).

Things that have happened:

  1. Subbed my first class at the gym on the 27th of February. I forgot to mention this last time.
  2. Spun a little bit of American Silk Sheep – a breed our friend Val has brought into existence. It’s lovely.
  3. I’ve really started to ramp up my job hunt. My current employer is the process of a merger (waiting on approval from the fed) so I’ve begun looking around at what is available – being proactive instead of reactive, yknow?
  4. Went dancing until 3 am last Sunday morning. Whew.
  5. I signed up for another Les Mills certification – this time is BodyStep.

BODYSTEP™ is the energizing step workout that makes you feel liberated and alive. Using a height-adjustable step and simple movements on, over and around the step you get huge motivation from sing-a-long music and approachable instructors. Cardio blocks push fat burning systems into high gear followed by muscle conditioning tracks that shape and tone your body. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYSTEP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Not much else is going on. I think I’ll do a WIP round up this weekend and hopefully get those sweaters re-blocked. I want an FO photo shoot for those ASAP.

I’ve made it to the interesting part of Oranje - the colorwork! Here’s after the first pass of stripes on the yoke:

And here’s a close up of the joggless stripey:

Not too bad if I say so myself.

I have 16 days to finish the sweater – I’m not doing the button closure, instead opting for a zipper. Thanks to the super tutorial that I found on Google+, I hope that it will be a breeze. Nothing else is really moving on the needles currently – I’m about to start a mini KAL for some endpaper mitts to burn up some more stash yarn (YAY). I’ll post about that later this week.

The next couple of weekends are proving to be insane.

This weekend I’m heading to NYC with Sharon and Jessica to putz around, check out the new purl shop, figure out what bridesmaid dress I want from j.crew for my cousin Erika’s wedding, and just generally enjoy each others company.  These ladies are my closest friends I’ve made since moving to NJ and I could not say thank you to them enough.

The next weekend, my Ashbee (or Ashly) is coming from Pittsburgh for a 3 day weekend! We’ll spend Friday in NYC, Saturday in Philly, and Sunday probably in Princeton.  It’s been over a year since I got to see Ash and I could not be more excited about this visit!

May 1st is Maryland Sheep and Wool. Sharon and I are taking that Friday off, driving to my parents house in PA, then leaving at o’dark thirty on Saturday morning to drive to MD. This will be my first trip to MDS&W, and my mission is Woolee Winder bobbins.

I think after that, I’ll finally have a moment to sit and breathe!

Currently working on:

Scoop-neck vest from

Knitting with:  Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky in color 26.

I've only been working on this since last night.  I was able to get some k1p1 practice in continental style and I feel more comfortable with that now.  I'm 2" away from the decrease for the armholes.  I love this vest and may knit one for my mom.

Trying to finish this up this week so I can start another blanket like this one:

for a co-worker, so a nice $30 profit there.  So much to do.

I decided to sleep in and not go into work until around 1 today.  Ah the beauty of being a graduate student assistant.  Anyway, in the midst of doing laundry and re-potting plants, I decided to take those pictures that I promised Fluxx to show and example of the knitting styles. So here we are. The first two pictures are continental style, where the yarn is carried on the left hand, which really reminds me of how I carried the yarn for crocheting.

Next, is one picture of english style knitting, which is hard to take a picture of when you are right handed!  The yarn is "thrown" around the needles with the right hand instead of "picked" off the yarn held in the left as in the continental style.

I'm really liking the continental for knitting stitch, but having a hard time with the purl stitch still.  I need to practice more.  Finding the time is the hard part.

I'm going to try to get some WIP pics up later on tonight.

Well, after fighting with photobucket for about 45 minutes, I said screw it and linked my yahoo acct to flickr.  It's great so far, I'm sure I'll be using that from now on for most things.  Here is what I've currently have on needles or finished:

scarf 001
scarf 003
scarf 005
legwarmer 001
legwarmer 002

First, my camera sucks with my desk lamp.  The third picture is the closest I could get to the yarn's actual color.  It is the pattern that amizada posted about a few posts ago.  I'm really liking the pattern and the scarf is going quickly, I've only worked on in for about an hour and I have 8" done.  Great!

The pink thing, is one of two legwarmers for my friend Nance's daughter.  I'm really excited to get these to her!  I finished the blue legwarmer that I had posted about the other day, but found that it was much much much easier to knit this first pink one after casting it on the addi turbos instead of the dpn's! What a difference.  I have to finish the mate to mr. pinky then the mate to mr. periwinkle (this was delayed because I realized I paired the wrong Rowan Kidsilk Haze with the Plush yarn from Classic Elite – I have 3 skeins of some kidsilk, so we will be making another pair – probably in grey).

I've signed New Age Amazon and myself up for our LYS's yarn tasting that is on Feb 4th.  I'm super excited because I was talking to one of the women that work in the shop (while buying that other skein of KSH) and it just seems like there is going to be a crazy amount of yarn there!  Add in the wine and cheese and snacks, I'll be such a happy camper!

I was also looking through the winter issue of Vogue Knitting and decided once my life calms down and I get through some of my stash (everything has a plan I SWEAR), I'm going to tackle the little sweater thing on the cover.  It will be a challenge, but I think I'm up for something a little harder than PSSO and fetchings!

I'm really digging these fast projects and hope to attempt something from speed knitting soon!  I also got Cat Bordhi's books – I sent the first knitting treasury back as I did not like any of the patterns in it, but the second, looks promising.  They have knitted cat beds.  This will definitely be attempted! The little felted bowls look cute too.

So much to do, so little time!
