Okay since last time… I think I separated the sleeves on Effortless. Buttons are still not on Dark & Stormy as it needs to be re-blocked. Zipper is still not ordered for Oranje – I need to re-block, measure, and order the damn zipper; then install said zipper. We ended up not dyeing any fiber last weekend (maybe this weekend?).

Things that have happened:

  1. Subbed my first class at the gym on the 27th of February. I forgot to mention this last time.
  2. Spun a little bit of American Silk Sheep – a breed our friend Val has brought into existence. It’s lovely.
  3. I’ve really started to ramp up my job hunt. My current employer is the process of a merger (waiting on approval from the fed) so I’ve begun looking around at what is available – being proactive instead of reactive, yknow?
  4. Went dancing until 3 am last Sunday morning. Whew.
  5. I signed up for another Les Mills certification – this time is BodyStep.

BODYSTEP™ is the energizing step workout that makes you feel liberated and alive. Using a height-adjustable step and simple movements on, over and around the step you get huge motivation from sing-a-long music and approachable instructors. Cardio blocks push fat burning systems into high gear followed by muscle conditioning tracks that shape and tone your body. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYSTEP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Not much else is going on. I think I’ll do a WIP round up this weekend and hopefully get those sweaters re-blocked. I want an FO photo shoot for those ASAP.

Okay since the last update was all about my daddy here’s what’s happened since then in a nice little list format thing.

  1. Dad got out of hospital, I got to see his incision – WOAH. Everyone is doing well.
  2. Work is going well
  3. Went to CA for the first time ever for a weekend.
  4. Toured SKYWALKER RANCH
  5. Fell in love with San Francisco
  6. More work that is going well
  7. Cold/Allergies/Crud
  8. SPRING IS HERE
  9. Getting our taxes done this weekend
  10. Dad had minor procedure today to remove kidney stent/stones – they were unable to remove the stone in its entirety so they blasted it apart and replaced the stent – he goes back next Friday to try again – yay?
  11. Spinning has occurred
  12. But I am living in baby knitting central right now, 3 more items to go before I can obsessively knit for my new neice! (Yes baby #5 is a GIRL – finalmente!)

And until next time, I give you . . . Sea Lions!

Every year I tell myself, no holiday knitting.

And every year I fail.

The first year was hell, why put myself through it again? Because you can’t say no to family, especially Moms. Both of them requested Clapotis’s (Clapotii??) for people for gifts. MIL for our super awesome Godmother(in-law?) who is wonderful, and My mom for a doctor she has worked with for FOREVER.  Both are being done out of Malabrigo Merino Worsted, one in the Vaa colorway, the other in Stonechat. Lori sent over a set of stitch markers for me to try out, so these will be used on #2 and I cannot wait, they are stunning (photos will be added later!).  So as of right now, I have 4 straight repeats left on #1, and hope to complete it by the end of the week.  Then #2 will be started, it is due by 12/14.  Easily done, I hope!

Other holiday knits? Super secret. All I can say is stash yarn and a pattern has been picked.  Doesn’t leave me a lot of time – may have to treat this last one like a Ravelympics project.

Spinning wise, I’m working on a 4 oz braid of Superwash Merion from Zarzuela’s Fibers in a watermelonish colorway. I am in love.  But there is not much time for spinning when one has Clapotii to knit!  I hope to get this single finished this weekend and get the next one before thanksgiving.  I am goig to try to go to my highschool’s juried art show over the holiday weekend, there is a fiber vendor there and I would LOVE to purchase some local Boyertown fiber! My mom also found out that there is an alpaca farm close to our house (think less than 2 miles) and they also sell “that stuff you use with your wheel”. Aww mom <3

Work is going well. Nothing else to report on that front.  I am sending a little goodie package to my cousin that has been knitting for what seems like forever, containing some handspun yarn and some Wollmeise. Yes, I am parting with a skein of Wollmeise. But she is my knitting inspiration. I can only HOPE to be that good someday!

Okay, so I’ve been rather quiet as far as this blog goes.  Things have been insane lately!

First, I’m now happily married.  On Sept 27, John and I tied the knot at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally, PA, with our reception at La Massaria at Bella Vista Golf Course.  Everything went perfectly and from what we can tell, everyone had a wonderful time.  We meet with our photographer on the 25th, so I will be sure to post the link for our photos here, after we’ve picked them of course!

Our honeymoon took us to Orlando, Florida where we stayed on Universal Studios property, specifically at the Loew’s Royal Pacific Resort.  The hotel was fab – decorcated in a post WWII pacific feel, there were stunning orchids, tahitian huts, luau’s, hawaiian shirts, and it was just fantastic. We would stay there again, no questions asked.

Since the wedding? Well, I went to the Garden State Sheep & Wool festival with Sharon and Jess, we did all of our banking merging, put a deposit down on a larger apartment (2 br, 1 bath), bought much needed bookcases, did a massive clean of the apartment (there is still more to do), sent out a billion thank you notes (still more to go) and have been enjoying married life. This friday I’m going to make it official and go to the Social Security office and PennDOT and change my name :D

Knitting wise? I’ve purchased a ton of fiber from Jess, a new spindle which is making things so much easier, and am saving up some $ for a wheel.  Sharon and I will be testing a few while we are at Rhinebeck this weekend (SO excited).

I’ll be inserting some photos in here later on, I have to get to a meeting for a presentation I’ll have to give in a few days. Gah.

Okay this entry may just be the suckiest ever because I just.don’t.feel.like.blogging, but something inside is nagging me to blog so, here ya go. Been doing a lot of running around lately and I’m exhausted.

  • It’s 39 days until the wedding. Yes. 39. Gah. So much left to do, the responses are coming in and final meetings are scheduled with our vendors. Honeymoon hotel is booked, need to arrage rental car and flights still – hopefully have that finished next week.

  • Work has been good lately, going to have my mid year review sometime this week. Had to create spreadsheet of weekly summaries of what I’ve been doing since March. Funtimes.

  • Knitting has been productive lately.  I finished my Ravelympics project last night and have found the socks a new home as I don’t like them. And, as of today, I am taking a month long hiatus from sock knitting due to wrist pain.

  • I’ve joined the YMCA to start swimming again. I blame this entirely on Michael Phelps, but honestly, I did miss swimming and the olympics have really brought that feeling home. So yesterday was my first day to swim and wow, totally over did it. This may be cause of wrist pain as a major battle ensued with the locker that was to keep my belongings in! I will be doing 30-45 mins 3x a week, so essentially, MWF, and may increase to 4x a week – no guarantee. I am trying to lose ~ 10 lbs before the wedding, and this can easily be done and the dress will still fit, so don’t worry about that.

  • I’ve been trying to destash a little bit. I’ve gotten rid of 3 skeins of noro kureyon, and 2 skeins of koigu kpppm and then of course, I buy more yarn.

  • Sweater knitting shall now commence, since, no socks for a month.  I have to finish a Clapotis for Cait still, but that’ll go smoothly and be great SnB knitting. I need to figure out what sweaters I will be attempting, I know already February Lady sweater and another Wicked – this time no pocket and definitely short sleeved again.  I do want to knit a central park hoodie, but I need yardage for my size and can hopefully find something suitable at Purl Soho since I have a store credit from the mishap with the BSA Alpaca & Silk that I purchased earlier in the summer.  There are a few patterns from KnitScene and IK that I want to make, but it all depends. I may get sick of sweaters super fast. I also need to do a set of Knucks for a friend that studies in London (way behind on these) and those will be next, after I finish up some of my WIP’s that aren’t socks.

  • And well, here are some FO’s I can so off!

Clearly you can tell that things have been a little nutty in the Sairy household. Here’s what has been on the needles lately:

zombie sock #1

Pattern: Zombie socks

Yarn: BFMA Socks That Rock Lightweight Ravenclan series – Valkyrie

finished Froot loops

Finished pair of Froot Loops from Knitty Spring 2008 surprise! Yarn is Koigu KPPPM (I have a problem with this yarn… I love it)

Started:

Firestarter by Yarnissima!

Or that should be re-started Firestarters by Yarnissima! out of, well, Koigu KPPPM.  This go around they are going much better – I’m on the gusset increases now! These are my FIRST socks for summer of socks 2008. I’m a late starter. That’s all I can say.

Also on the needles, an odessa hat, wicked, a new malabrigo clapotis for Cait, and well, I need to start the mates for the river ripple socks and the zombie socks.  Those will come soon.

Work has been crazy lately and things have just calmed down – nice that it is happening before a holiday weekend. Wedding planning is still going smoothly, I have to call the reception site and inform them of our food choices, finish up creating direction cards in Publisher, and then we can start to get the invitations sent out! So much is happening so fast!  Best get back to work now!

I did a mini swap with Marcia on Ravelry for some Wollmeise!  I requested two skeins and receieved them! Yay!  Marcia got me 2 skeins of Claudia’s 80/20 sock yarn, in Poison Nr 5 and Pfefferminz Prinz!

Poison Nr 5

pfefferminz prinz

All I can say is that I am in LOVE! Her yarn is going to be mailed as soon as I get around to it ;)

Project wise, I’ve finished one sock of a pair of River Ripple Socks from the Stitch n Bitch page a day calender. I’m almost 7 repeats into a  Froot Loop sock – means 7 left to go!  Both are being knit from Koigu KPPPM but in different colorways.  The former, of course, in a blue, and the latter in a pink, magenta and black colorway (P860).  I’m knitting the Froot Loop sock on my new pair of Hiya Hiya circs and I’m still not sure what I think about them.  Yes they are wonderfully light weight. The joins are not as slick as my Addi Lace Turbos and I think that they may be TOO light, and that the needles themselves have too much give.  But they were only $7. Cant really complain too much!

My new job is going well.  If anyone cares to find out what I do, you can go have a read here :) It really doesn’t explain my actual job function, but hey, it’s the stuff I work with!

Well I made it through week #1.  Didn't know that casual friday existed, so everyone, literally, EVERYONE was in jeans, but me!  Trying to learn a lot of finance and actually apply it has been difficult.  I feel like as soon as I start to feel comfortable with a topic, something comes along to knock me down a few pegs.

I feel like I just started college again and have no clue waht to do about anything! I know it will pass, but I want to do well and this is just frustrating me immensely!

Right, so until September 2008, actually September 27, 2008, I am not allowed to buy anymore yarn. It is stash busting time, and well, I need to save $ for the wedding.  Plus, I am totally addicted to knitting socks! So far, I have finished the following:

A pair of RPM socks from knitty.com knit using magic loop and out of Koigu KPPPM,

A pair of hot pink fetchings, knit using magic loop and debbie bliss cashmerino aran,

And the first sock of a pair of Cookie A's BFF socks, knit using magic loop and out of koigu KPPPM.

Things that are planned to be knit,

  • anthropologie inspired capelet
  • wicked sweater – just waiting on size 7 needles
  • more socks
  • more fetchings

I managed to take a few pics of yarn I received for xmas, or purchased on 12/31/07 (stash busting started jan 1, 2008), and some that has been marinating in the stash for a while.

Job wise, more interviews have come and gone, still waiting on a decision on one position, and have decided to seek certification to teach in the state of NJ – so I will be sitting the PRAXIS I/II hopefully by March, so I can seek employment as a HS Math teacher. Nothing else is really going on on that front.

I've decided to go Wheat/Gluten Free with my diet.  So far it is working out well.  I made this decision because there is a wheat/gluten sensitivity in my family – my one nephew is in fact allergic to both, as well as soy.  I find that I feel more together and my blood sugar seems to be more stable.  Plus, losing 5lbs right off the bat always helps ;)

Wedding wise, we have met with a photographer, probably the one we will go with, an have scheduled a meeting with the DJ for the reception.  Soon I will have to start looking for my dress, but I'm trying to slim down a little more before that happens! Things are going smoothly, but this stuff is expensive, makes me fear for when/if my children decide to get married (when we have kids that is).

Okay, Thursday is my interview at the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board in Harrisburg.  This is really just for more interview practice, since I really need to be heading to NY to be with my bb.  Then, at some point next week, I have TWO, yes TWO, phone interviews, one through my darling recruiter from SmithHanley, and the other is with AC Neilsen for two different positions in Connecticut – Stamford and Fairfield.  This means the move to White Plains may actually happen (!) and then we will have the equidistant place between our two commutes.

The boy received a raise at marvel, and hopefully in 3 months he will be full time.  This whole thing is finally settling in nicely and working out as his lease is up Jan 1.  Yes this does mean that the wedding planning is going to be a bit different, but the people at La Massaria are more than helpful!  But seriously, this wedding gown thing needs to start happening soon, I'm not where I'd like to be weight wise, but it'll happen.

Knitting wise, I finished my first pair of grown up socks (read: not footies and not simple ribbed) and they are wonderful.  Carolyn's socks will be sent tomorrow – sending footies to florida! And everyone elses presents are coming along nicely.  I need to buy some soft yarn to make McKenna a cute little scarf and a hat – how cute will this 2 year old get? Super cute! Fortunately, there is no real xmas knitting list.  YES I can't believe it.
