While I have been making progress in my Christmas knitting and spinning projects, there was a minor setback this morning.

Let me preface this with, I am okay. I was in a car accident this morning. My car is driveable but needs to be repaired:

Smooshy honda fit!

We’re starting the long and tedious process of dealing with the insurance companies. But I am okay. I expect to be sore tomorrow but I am okay :)

Let’s talk about something that is hmm not car accidents! I finished the first sock that I’m knitting at the request of MIL. It’s “brainless” from Yarnissima (That’s a ravelry link).

I’m still working my way through Rosebuddie for my niece. I’m almost done the last chart and then I can proceed to the edging.

Erika’s sweater is still in progress but I only have the sleeves left to work on – I need to rip out the 4 rows I knit on one to restart and use the jog-less stripe method to alternate the two skeins that I’m working from.

There was some stash enhancement after the Skein Maven’s trip to Woolbearers:

and 3 balls of St. Denis Nordique to knit Juneberry with:

I’m going to stop here so I can go relax a bit before another day at the grindstone tomorrow – hopefully I can get to the second gusset on the socks for MILs co-worker.

Urgh. This weekend we are moving everything from the kitchen, except mugs and pots and pans and will be running on paper plates. My parents are coming up for the weekend to help repair a huge hole in the plaster in the bathroom (that I caused by pulling the shower rod off of the wall… oops) and clean and just keep me from going insane. Yay parents!

Xmas knitting is in full swing and my mom’s rogue is on the hood and I’m working my way along.  The other projects are top secret, so they will have to wait until after the holiday.

Today I’m home from work this morning because the old apartment complex is painting our front door and I need to make sure miss Haley doesn’t flee the safety of our walk-in closet to go explore Princeton Junction. She has experience outside yes, but the fact that I can’t get a collar on her (she loses control of bodily functions and I don’t want to repeat the experience my sister had) and she isn’t micro-chipped is the major concern.

Cannot wait to move so I can start unpacking and get my life back in order. I hate moving.

I'm now 25.  Exciting? yes. My birthday was kinda dull, hung out at the house all day, worked on xmas presents, got lots of love on facebook and myspace and my brother called, but that was about it.  That evening it was the pierogi fest and we decided to make some ricotta based gnocchi.  Delish.  Red velvet cupcakes? Even better.  Birthday presents included the following:

  • pink nintendo ds
  • tempurpedic pillows
  • skully umbrella from castingon
  • knitting beyond the edge from jc
  • second season of fraggle rock from jc
  • laptop sleeve from jc's mom & dad
  • gift certificate to Purl Soho from jc's mom & dad
  • gift certificate to Yarnings from godmother

Xmas was nice.  Spent the morning unwrapping presents and eating delicious banana bread french toast!  Went over to my brother's house for dinner with jc and unwrapped more presents with the nephews.  Was a great time!  Lots of delicious food and coffee and homemade hot chocolate! Some xmas gifts:

  • ott lite floor lamp
  • cashmere sweaters
  • bedside water jar + glass thing
  • 2 manic street preacher cds
  • older lidia bastianich cookbook
  • french onion soup crocks
  • mini food processor
  • gift cards to VS, the new outlets, and crate & barrell

Tomorrow is move in day for jc to his new apartment in NJ.  Totally excited.  Already found Pins and Needles and will hopefully get to stop in there tomorrow.  Next interview is on Jan 4 for an entry level data analyst position in NYC.  Hopefully something comes of this.

The first big payment was made on the reception site today.  Just means that the wedding is coming that much sooner.  Jan 12 we are meeting with the photographer and at some point I have to go meet with the baker and the florist just to let them know that ya we have a wedding on sept 27 and start talking ideas with them.  And of course, I still need to get my dress and talk to all of the girls involved.  So much to do, and not really being able to do any of it is frustrating.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season and has a safe and happy new year!

The biggest news: I'm going to be an aunt again!  My sister in law is pregnant with their 4th child. 3 Boys are already here and let's hope this one is a girl :)

It was a great holiday.  My birthday (xmas eve) was great.  We went to the fiance's for dinner and had a wonderful little polish feast of pierogies, roasted red potatoes, bread, and some smelts (ugh).  I made a chocolate peanut butter fudge cheesecake that was delish and his mom bought me a bday cake!

Birthday presents received:

Grey's Anatomy, Vol. 2 Grey's Anatomy

How cool?  I haven't seen danger mouse in YEARS!

Xmas presents were also great this year!  I got a ton of stuff from j.crew and several knitting gift cards (yay) also a few more dvd's!

And this awesome CD:

Love
The Beatles

THIS CD IS AWESOME! I think though, that I'm going to buy the one with the DVD attached so I can see the things that Cirque du Soleil did to the music!  The cd is just amazing!  I brought it with me to work so that I can listen to it after lunch!  Also received:

Which is rediculously huge and full of neat things.  I got new dishes from Pottery Barn (star shaped! sweet) a rice cooker, cake plates, and a steaming iron.  Everyone seemed to like their presents they received and I'm happy for that.

I go back to Pittsburgh on Saturday.  I'm not really looking forward to it, but I know it's only a few more months until I'm at home :D Now, the job hunt begins! Wish me luck!

Anyone have any interesting plans for new years?  I know I will be at Walnut Grill with my cousin and  New Age Amazon being snobby drinking wine and ordering cheese plates!  Can't wait.

Hope your xmas was as nice as mine!

I've started New Age Amazon's pair of fetchings.  I'm half done the first glove.

I've put most of my friend Carolyn's cook book together, "Cooking with your right arm tied behind your back".  It's a super late birthday gift.  And I mean, Super late – oct 29th.

I still have another cookbook to assemble for my friend Cait and I have been doing that as I've been doing Carolyn's.

Mead has come out with printer friendly sheets of note cards which is awesome and allows me to print the recipes right onto the notecards.  I have way too many recipes for baked goods and have been looking for casseroles and entrees.  I'm definitely going to include ●ßoηi†a.in.Ρink●'s amazing salsa recipe. (which i'm going to make some of tonight!!)

Hopefully everyone is managing to stay warm.  We had a 40 degree temperature drop in pittsburgh yesterday, the high was 70 degrees and it went down to the low 30s by nightfall.  How nice.  I love this city.

My friend dropped off a lb of decaf sumatra whole bean from starbucks.  it's for the statistics' departmental secretary who is a wonderful person and i find myself spending a lot of time just gabbing in her office – at least 45 minutes each day!  Her birthday is today, so Kim, if you've found this, happy birthday!

I need to find things to wrap little gift baskets in, so luckily, New Age Amazon and I are heading to Micahels, so I can hopefully get a basket and some plastic wrap as well as some more wrapping paper from target.

I'm almost done my shopping.  What a relief!
